This might not seem like much but it is the first known red wood ant recorded in the woodland. This was the only one seen in the area and was very small compared to other specimens.

Just seen something quite heart-breaking while walking with Darren Veitch, a swift bouncing off of a building multiple times trying to enter a former nest, before giving up. The accuracy of it's attempt clearly demonstrated a nest used to be present. Hannah Bourne-Taylor
