I’ve been avoiding social media for the past month and I’m happy to say I’m now relaxed, refreshed, and ready to start the writing portion of my summer!

Still doing pixel art in my spare time! I find the process of clicking pixel by pixel with my mouse to be *very* relaxing. This one was done over the course of two days. Again in MSPaint.

It’s maybe a little bit silly, but there’s something really aesthetically pleating to me in getting all of the readings I’m working through printed off and organized!

Conceptually I can speculate about why this *might* happen to try to reassure myself about it, but my knee-jerk reaction is that this makes my skin crawl.

I think out of print now, but a story about an orphan taken in by a stern but endlessly patient witchy woman in a Scottish village. Has a lot of undertones about tolerance, loyalty, and work ethic, also gave me some unreasonably high expectations for backyard gardening.

Received a review saying that analytic philosophy is not relevant for addressing issues in the real world. Just wanted to pass this on in case any of you are also still doing analytic philosophy, I guess we're gonna have to change the whole approach

Something that’s not discussed enough on here I think, but that I’ve talked to lots of people about in person, are the therapeutic effects of doing philosophy (and the fact that its not confined to any specific type of philosophy, or to academic work in the field).

Amid lots of concerns about ChatGPT in academia, here are some things you can use it for that *aren’t* plagiarism: grammar checking, debugging code, summarizing abstracts to narrow down what to read, finding good examples, obscure LaTex formatting…

Realizing that I’ve started saying things like “qua” in daily conversations. When did this happen? Why did this happen?

Disappointed doesn’t really cover it today, but my instinct is to look for ways to be positive in tough times. So, one upshot was the heartening experience I had last night of standing with so many people determined enough to vote that they were willing to brave insane waits.
