Cultured on a lawn of E. coli from the CSF of a meningoencephalitic patient that passed away. Stained with Giemsa from the plate. First time I have cultured Naegleria in my career. Sad to know this predictable but tragic outcome. #parasitology Bobbi Pritt, MD

If this is the end, my last Tweet is that specimen collection and transport are the most important determinants of the quality of microbiology testing. The micro lab cannot fix a bad specimen. ASM
