Attempts at gas masks were made for many animals during #ww1. Dogs and horses were the most common, although horses would often mistake them for feed bags and tear them apart.

LZ 23 flew for only 7 months of the war before being shot down over the forest of Badonviller. Her crew landed in French territory but escaped back to German lines to provide valuable reconnaissance information. #WW1

Today I had the honor of visiting the grave of John J. Pershing, General of the Armies and leader of the American Expeditionary Force during the First World War. His headstone sits in a small clearing, in a quiet section of the Arlington National Cemetery. #WW1 #Arlington #USArmy
