Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has filed 4 complaints with the International Criminal Court for war crimes committed against journalists by the Israeli army in Gaza. ‘Journalists are being slaughtered at an unprecedented pace’ rsf.org/en/gaza-rsf-fi…

These images from Gaza today are beyond the most apocalyptic of imaginations. There are no buildings standing but the rubble keeps being bombed because among the rubble human beings are still moving and falling, with nowhere to go

A U.S. government plan is being enacted right now to surveil, silence, and deport people who speak out for Palestinian rights. It’s called Project Esther — and it makes “cancel culture” look like child’s play. Free speech defenders, where are you? 🧵

Wow, another International Booker for India ! The first for Kannada. Heart Lamp, an anthology of short stories by Banu Mushtaq, translated into English by Deepa Bhasthi, wins them both the prestigious prize. Congratulations ! Sounds a must read bbc.com/news/articles/…

Another useless writer debate: chapter length. As a reader, I don’t care. Make your chapters as short or as long as you want them to be. Make them wildly different lengths if you want. My only advice is to try to end them in a way that makes me want to start the next chapter.

Folks, let's do an old-fashioned Q and A. Topic -- my new India book. Please don't ask me to summarize 700 pages in a tweet (and let's strive for basic human respect, please), but otherwise, put your questions below.

His debut novel, “The Day of the Jackal” (1971), imagined a scenario where the OAS, desperate after repeated failures, hires a foreign professional assassin — code-named “The Jackal” — to eliminate de Gaulle. 11/20

🧵 1/ NYT just dropped a “hit job” on #ZohranMamdani: as a teenager, he checked “Black” and “Asian” on a college app. This is the smoking gun? Seriously? Let’s unpack why this cheap article is a desperate hit job on a progressive Muslim, #SouthAsian, pro-Palestinian candidate🧐
