One of our team leads, A/P Luis Pedro Coelho, presented at ISME - International Society for Microbial Ecology conference currently taking place in South Africa. Luis spoke about microbes and the microbiome to local school children of Cape Town. To find out more about CMR's exciting research, chat to our team at ISME

Hope you can make it to the #isme24 biogeography session at 15:10 room 1.6 - if not try sandpiper.qut.edu.au and github.com/AroneyS/binchi… for your profiling and co-assembly needs

Great pleasure to work with Wei Shen 沈 伟 on a new indexing and alignment scheme, called LexicMap: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… We have been working on uniformly reassembling, QC-ing and annotating all bacterial (+ now archaeal) data, & wanted to be able to do full alignment to it....

Happy to be involved in a community spirited effort on river microbiomes from by Mikayla A. Borton Kelly Wrighton out in Nature nature.com/articles/s4158…. Gratifying to see SingleM / Sandpiper sandpiper.qut.edu.au used to establish the biogeography of novel species in public metagenomes

A great way to get more MAGs out of your metagenomes without further sequencing cost. MAGs from coassemblies appear *better* quality, not more chimeric. Excellent work from Samuel Aroney here.
