Hurricane Ernesto on the way next week? A growing signal for a developing Tropical Cyclone over N+E half of Caribbean mid-late next week. Background conditions next week would support this becoming a hurricane. Most data keeps it east of Florida. One to watch closely! đź‘€

Typhoon #Shanshan has made landfall in SW Japan, overhead Kyushu island today. While the strongest winds from yesterday have abated, the system will become slow moving over Shikoku and W/SW Honshu and dump excessive rainfall over next 2-3 days. Flooding and landslide threats.

After a drier than normal August across the majority of southern UK, things are changing ! A slow moving low pressure area over W France will deepen, with its associated frontal zone stalling across S+SW England. Parts of E Devon and Exmoor could see 50-100mm of rain.

A very busy week of weather over Europe! 1) Polar airmass sweeping south-east into mainland. Snow showers more widely. Big Alpine snow dump on Thu. 2) Widespread heavy snow in Finland on Wed. 3) Sharp night frosts Thu - Sat. 4) MUCH milder with strong SW winds into NW at weekend

Cold this week in W/SW Europe, with fresh NE'ly winds over France and parts of Central Europe for another 24hrs, enhancing the cold feel. Colder into SE Europe this weekend, before mild Atlantic SW'lies come back into many areas during next week. 💨🌧️

#StormEowyn - an unsually intense wintertime North Atlantic low pressure system. Wind gusts of 80-100mph to Ireland, N Ireland and W Scotland over the next 24hrs. Western Ireland could see a few gusts over 100mph! It's rare to see winds this strong over land areas of NW Europe.
