Chat w/ Léon Bottou, legendary researcher behind CNNs w/ Yann LeCun and pioneer of large-scale SGD when it was controversial He also worked on learning-inspired compression w/ Yann, DjVu I asked 2nd order SGD - he tried it again but still found it unstable Inspiring conversation!

Tasting Peranakan cuisine w/ Yann LeCun Pascale Fung while discussing next generation of world models w/ Yann’s JEPA beyond LLMs/diffusion models, the critical role of open-source, and the fascinating origin of ICLR which has become 10th most cited venue in all science in just 12yr!

Our icml paper was borderline, we expected a rejection as no reviewers acknowledged our rebuttal and w/ past experience, AC would follow negative reviews. But AC read the paper, reviewer comments and assess our rebuttal. Grateful to AC for rewarding the hard work of my student!

Someone is selling my deep learning course -- without my consent ! I don’t know who you are.. but what I do have are a very particular set of skills.. I will look for you, I will find you and.. I will ask for 50% of the revenue! 😄
