Heard Dafencii’s song “Tarat Altayara” today. Initially thought, “Damn that’s catchy, but sounds like it’s about 9/11.” Then I listened more & realised it’s about Sudan. Googled it & ofc the wonderful Yassmin Abdel-Magied has already written about this for the great outlet New Lines Magazine!

Our black Muslim Townhall is just about to start bringing together Black Muslims from across the country. Hosted by the wonderful Yassmin Abdel-Magied & Abdulla (our head of community engagement) we are looking forward to an insightful discussion.

Led brilliantly by Abdulla & Yassmin Abdel-Magied. A lot of conversations have birthed about anti-racism. It’s really important to carry on doing this work & for others to learn more about the lived experience of Black Muslims. Thanks so much again MCB. Angela Rayner

Two of the contributors are Twitter moots. Can't wait to share their wonderful contributions. 💜 Thanks Yassmin Abdel-Magied and Reem for contributing essays on Sudan 🇸🇩 to this Communication, Culture & Critique forum issue.

Grateful to have been part of a session at TheConduit, discussing the #Sudan war 🇸🇩, notably power structures limiting coverage & high-level policy action. With the brilliant Yassmin Abdel-Magied, @DrEvaKhair & James Copnall. Thanks 🙏🏽 to English PEN for organising. #KeepEyesOnSudan

So excited to share Yassmin Abdel-Magied's essay "How to write about Sudan" inspired by Binyavanga Wainaina's "How to Write About Africa" This is one of my favourite essays in the collection. You can download it here drive.google.com/file/d/1EsjMaN… academic.oup.com/ccc/advance-ar…

So so proud of this piece. Alhamdulilah. Thank you for letting me share it with the world Wunpini F. Mohammed, Ph.D !
