Getting sheds down doesn’t just improve the look of the street; it makes the city safer. Read my op-ed with Alvin Bragg Mark D. Levine on the steps we’re taking to bring light back to our streets

“Built environment has the capacity to inspire natives and visitors alike — or, when wrapped up uglier than Christo’s Reichstag, to drag us all down together.” New York City Council has opportunity to enact needed scaffolding reforms now. nydailynews.com/2024/12/01/kno…

We are committed to reducing UNNECESSARY sidewalk sheds. The Department of Buildings team sees a more precise shed policy for campus-like settings and collaborated with our NYCHA partners. We'll always work to keep New Yorkers safe. We can do it smartly, too. nydailynews.com/2024/12/10/nyc…

Travel to any other city and you’ll notice the scourge of scaffolding (the type that goes up and stays up forever without any facade repair activity) is a uniquely NYC problem. A package of bills in New York City Council could bring big changes. Time to #GetShedsDown!

Big win for NYC streets: It’s a great day to #GetShedsDown 😎 Mayor Eric Adams just signed legislation to address NYC’s long-standing sidewalk shed epidemic, giving DOB new tools to help us compel building owners to finish construction quicker and clear these eyesores from our streets!
