Congrats to our newest Genetics PhD, Dr. Lizzie Greif! Here Lizzie is with her advisor Dr. Leigh Anne Clark. Lizzie will start a position at UPenn with Dr. Sylvia M. Van Sloun. We are proud of you Dr. Greif!

It is just so sad that the #NeurIPS2024 main conference ended with such a racist remark by a faculty when talking about ethics. How ironic! I also want to commend the Chinese student who spoke up right on spot. She was respectful, decent, and courageous. Her response was

It is a major PhD project of Yitang Sun. I am very excited to see this work out. I learned so much about the genetics of circulating fatty acids. This is a solid foundation for more research to come regarding gene-diet interactions for omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

Excited to see my PhD work published! We performed a GWAS of 19 circulating fatty acids in >239K EUR participants, identifying: 🧬 215 (70 novel) loci for PUFA traits 🧬 163 (61 novel) for MUFA traits 🧬 119 (54 novel) for SFA traits Big thanks to Kaixiong Ye and Huifang Xu!
