Durham Cathedral. There's almost 1000 years of life in those walls - so glad that they decided to make them look vibrant and full of energy.

Greetings from Holy Trinity Goodramgate on St George's Day. St George is one of the saints featured in the East Window dating from c. 1476. There will be a brass rubbing activity available in the church all week if you are looking for things to do. Free, but donations welcome.

St George slaying the dragon from the the medieval wall paintings in the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul in Pickering which are believed to date back to around 1450. They were almost lost forever when they were covered with whitewash in the Reformation.

🪽Have you noticed the angels that adorn the Quire, suspended from intricate carvings beneath the organ? 🐭Have you found any adorable wooden mice, carved by Robert 'mousey' Thompson? 🐦 Have you spotted our tiny wren, chasing a spider through a 15th century stained glass window?

You could take me all over the world to see many different places, but nothing would ever be like the feeling I get when I return to #York. It is a city I love, with a station I adore, and being here is always like wearing a comfortable pair of shoes. Hello York.

Apr 29: Feast of Wilfrid II (†744), bishop of York. He studied at Streanæshalch (Whitby) under Hild. He later became the disciple of John of Beverley, whom he succeeded at York. He had a zeal for education. Ecgberht succeeded him. 📸Paul Lakin

👣Step underground to see one of York’s best hidden attractions, the Roman Bath Museum, located in the basement of a pub. 🔨Builders uncovered the remains of a ‘caldarium’ from York’s Roman period in 1930. 💸Visit the small museum and get £1 off entry with your bus ticket!
