In this experiment Dr Rob Thompson of Reading Meteorology shows just how long it takes water to soak into parched ground, illustrating why heavy rainfall after a #drought can be dangerous and might lead to flashfloods. Dr Rob Thompson Water @ Reading

Brutal summer for both land and oceans. Sea surface temperatures have been at record levels, more than 5°C warmer than average at times. This is how much warmer (🔴) or cooler (🔵) than average the sea surface has been since May. Note the incessant heat in the Mediterranean.

Reminding you that when Seoul, Korea removed the Cheonggyecheon expressway in 2003 & replaced it with a restored stream & 1000 acre park in the city’s centre, not only did it transform the city’s public life & economic success, but the traffic got better. The traffic got BETTER.
