How do CRISPR immune systems make molecular memories? Joy, Petr and I characterized an all-in-one trimmer-integrase to ask questions about CRISPR adaptation. Really excited to share this one - my first preprint Doudna Lab Institute for Geographic Information Science. Check it out! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

The final version of our Cas12a phage escape outcomes study is now out in PLOS Biology! Congrats to Michael Michael Schelling and Ginny Giang Nguyen! Thread on the new experiments in the revised manuscript below journals.plos.org/plosbiology/ar…

End of the school year means party time 🥳 Congrats to Sashital and Underbakke @un_eric lab graduates Michael Michael Schelling, Dinitha, Aline and Madison! And good luck at your internships to Ginny Giang Nguyen and Tania Tania Palhano!

Excited to share our work on a pretty cool Cas4/1 fusion that makes this I-G system self sufficient for #CRISPR adaptation! Thanks to Dipa Sashital for being the amazing mentor she is! And supporting me through the writing process during my internship!

I have had a great opportunity to present our work in Gordon Research Conferences's Nucleic Acid conference. Also, I am so glad to meet other brilliant scientists in this field 👌🏻 I am very thankful to Dipa Sashital to give me this chance and to Yukti Dhingra and Puneet juneja for their helps 🥳

We had a fun lab outing to welcome back Yukti Dhingra from her internship at Moderna! Still missing Ginny Giang Nguyen, who just finished her internship Bayer CropScience and will be back on Monday!

The final version of our Cas4/1 dual-nuclease activity study is now out Journal of Biological Chemistry! Congrats Yukti Dhingra!

Happy to see the final version out. Thank you Dipa Sashital ! jbc.org/article/S0021-…

It's been an amazing journey with the Sashital Lab 😁😁 Thank you, Dipa Dipa Sashital for everything! So happy and looking forward to new beginnings with the Darst-Campbell lab Rockefeller University. Goes without saying how much I will miss everyone in the Sashital Lab.

Here is the link to a wonderful perspective on our article about type V-K CASTs, written by Dipa Sashital and Yukti Dhingra: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

It was a pleasure to highlight exciting work from Jerrin Thomas George, Sam Sternberg and coauthors on why type V-K CAST is less specific and how to improve its specificity. Congrats to the authors and thanks to Yukti Dhingra for doing most of the work to write this Perspective!

Had fun writing a perspective with Dipa Sashital about this excellent work on type V-K CASTs. Congratulations Jerrin Thomas George Sam Sternberg and all the authors!

Its been an emotional week indeed! Thanks to Dipa Sashital and the all the lab members for all the support through these years! Will cherish all the fun times and miss everyone a lot!

Thrilled to share our latest paper nature ! Here we studied the mechanism of transcription for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the deadly pathogen that causes TB. This is a fun collaboration with the wonderful Rock Lab 🧬🧫 Darst-Campbell Lab Rockefeller University (1/n) rdcu.be/dzTa7

Proud to share our work out now in nature nature.com/articles/s4158…! In an amazing collaboration w/ Liz Campbell & Maddie Delbeau Darst-Campbell Lab we identify the/a source of the fitness cost of rifampicin resistance (RifR) in Mtb and how some compensatory mutations rescue the cost!

Our study on the effects of metal ion concentration on Cas12a specificity is now out as a Breakthrough Article in Nucleic Acids Res! Congrats to Ginny Giang Nguyen, Michael Michael Schelling and all the authors!
