Using metal sacrificial anodes in organic echem? Do they turn black, short-circuit your cell, or otherwise mess up your reaction? Check out our perspective on troubleshooting common anodes, out now in Chemical Science! Collab w/ Song Lin Lab #MyFirstChemSci pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…

Many, many, many congratulations to Dr. Zachery W. B. Iton who beautifully defended his PhD today! I could not be more proud of his thesis, the scientist and leader he is, and all the work he's done. Congratulations, Zac iton!! We will miss you! #proudadvisor πŸŽ‰πŸΎ The See Group

If anyone is interested in a postdoc position studying the effect of electrolyte composition on electrochemical CO2 reduction in Liquid Sunlight Alliance, please send me an email with your CV with a subject line: "CO2R postdoc." We have some cool results to understand!

Check out Steve's paper looking at isostructural mats that undergo anion redox, but with metals of different d band positions. The anion oxidation potential is unchanged - confirming that anion oxidation occurs from nonbonding S p states. #battchat pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10…

I'm so excited that this is out! Huge congrats to Steve and co, especially Daniil and Anton! We clearly show that cation vacancies enable anion oxidation using Steve's clever set of materials based on LiTiS2 and Li2TiS3. Vacancy = space and S nb states. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…

Check out Michelle's paper! She studies LiNaFeS2 in both Li and Na half cells to compare anion redox mechanisms when Li vs Na is the majority charge carrier in the electrolyte. The charge compensation is the same, but the structural implications are not. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

.Zac iton's last paper πŸ₯² in The See Group just came out in Journal of the American College of Surgeons (JACS) today! A beautiful paper on the MPS3 framework as a modular host for mobile, solvated ions (incl aprotic solv!). He interrogates many structure-property relationships. #proudadvisor pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…

Had the chance to speak to a crowd of grad students and postdoc researchers at the Materials Research Society (MRS) conference in Seattle. Really enjoyed their enthusiasm and fresh ideas on next-generation batteries.
