First blog post on importing #GIS data to #b3d Most of the data pipelines were guided by Craig Taylor 's tutorials at mapzilla.co.uk. They're a great resource for getting started in the animation of geospatial data. link.medium.com/tLvrHi1xgnb

Exploring animating GPX tracks directly from the browser with Mapbox. Glitchy GIF render of my last ski touring outing. Less sophisticated than Blender, but a lot faster to get some results. #GIS #geospatial #dataviz #Datavisualization

Figured out how to convert GPX files without generating 6 files. Most of the time, the track data is all we need: ogr2ogr -fieldTypeToString DateTime -f GeoJSON <name>.geojson <input file>.gpx tracks #ogr2ogr #gdal #GIS

Another episode of Not the Shortest Path on Animating #GIS Data in Blender. The follow-up from the previous episode is digging into the #b3d add-on scripts I used. Two-week releases seem to be sustainable, trying to keep at it! zacdezgeo.medium.com/not-the-shorte…

A day skiing out in the Chic-Chocs at Mont-Lyall just outside Le parc national de la Gaspésie. Exploring how to create #geospatial data animations directly from the web browser with Mapbox-GL-JS. youtu.be/1TbJ1jqKU88 #dataviz #GIS Mapbox

What underlying patterns lead to code being written before specific needs are validated? Is there a sense of urgency to be ready as soon as possible? Is the ambiguity of requirements taboo or seldom challenged?

The #opensource tool "dbt" become popular with #dataengineering. It's the 'T' in ELT based on #SQL and #Python. Zac Deziel seems to one of the 1st documenting the combination of dbt with #OGR / #GDAL and #PostGIS by end 2021 anagraph.io/en/articles/3r… and zacdezgeo.medium.com/not-the-shorte…
