Super happy to share that our paper is published in nature today! We've discovered how the breast is protected against tumor initiation—though it comes at a cost. 📰Read all about it here: bit.ly/3MSxoa1 🏥CCB_VIB_KUL Department of Oncology - KU Leuven The Netherlands Cancer Institute Van Rheenen Lab Benjamin Simons

It is official: My lab and I are moving to Yale Cancer Center Center in December! Very excited to be joining the Center of Molecular and Cellular Oncology and @YalePathology Want to be part of Aitken Lab 2.0? We are hiring at all levels - so get in touch! [1/5]

Focal deletions of noncoding regions in cancer genomes can have unexpected consequences. Out now in Blood Journal, we’ve discovered an intriguing mechanism of oncogene activation whereby focal deletion of a ‘promoter tether’ leads to aberrant expression of IRX3 in T-ALL. Thread👇

Which method works better for single-cell Whole Genome Amplification? By comparing the 3 methods, we found that the answer depends on what matters most in each downstream application. The latest hifiasm can directly assemble standard Oxford Nanopore simplex R10 reads, without HERRO correction or other preprocessing, to phased contigs of contiguity comparable to HiFi assembly. Like before, you can further add ultra-long, Hi-C or trio data for better assembly.

I’m excited to share the first manuscript out of my PhD work with Nicolas Altemose, in which we describe FiberFold: a deep learning tool that predicts cell-type-specific and haplotype-specific 3D genome organization from a single experiment! biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 1/

Thrilled to share that my 2nd first-author paper from my PhD is now published in Nucleic Acids Res! After >9 years of work and an amazing collaboration with Koen Theunis, this project holds a special place in my heart (1/9) #SingleCell #MultiOmics academic.oup.com/nar/article/53…
