#Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the US. Federal troops reached Galveston, TX on June 19, 1865 to declare over 200,000 enslaved people free – 2.5 years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Rutgers will observe this holiday on June 21.
