Yesterday 398 students participated in our 29th Turkey Trot. The students did 2,083 laps! It was a fantastic day with a record number of parent volunteers and supporters. All donations will go to the Open Table and the Concord Rec. Scholarship Fund. Thank you for your support! 👟

Students recently participated in a school gratitude project. Our front entry is filled with leaves highlighting the things that students appreciate about our school community. Students are thankful for friends, family, teachers, computers, recess equipment, and so much more!

At our all school meeting today we had presentations from the student council, the 4th grade, and the school chorus.  The meeting allowed us to present the over $8000 raised at the Turkey Trot to Open Table, Greater Boston Food Bank, and the Concord Recreation Scholarship Fund.

The Concord Museum will be visiting each of the 3rd grade classrooms this week as part of the "Two Worlds Meet" curriculum. Students will be learning about the benefits and the challenges experienced by the settlers and the Native Americans in the early 1600's. 🌎 Concord Museum

Today our students and teachers celebrated Alcott Spirit Day by wearing their favorite hats to school. There were so many different hats to choose from! Our next Spirit Day is Comfy Cozy Day on Friday, February 7. 🧢👒

The 2nd grade had a Rock Show today to culminate their Rocks and Minerals science unit. Each student chose a rock, drew a picture of the rock, and wrote about its physical properties. Some classic Rock 'N Roll was played for background music. 🔬🎶

Would you believe that today was the 100th day of school?!?! Many classrooms celebrated this important day in the calendar with activities that involved the number 100. Time flies when you are learning at Alcott! 🗓️ 1⃣0⃣0⃣

On Wednesday, our kindergarten students put on an ABC Fashion Show to celebrate finishing all 26 letters in the Fundations curriculum. They designed vests & hats and then walked the red carpet. Also, our 3rd graders shared their research about inspirational Black leaders.

The 4th grade celebrated the "Day of Play" today. All students were encouraged to do nothing but play, and all toys had to be electronic-free. We saw Yahtzee, Blokus, Farkle, arts & crafts, and so much more! Play creates learning opportunities across all areas of development! 😀

The March Madness Rock-Paper-Scissors Teacher Tournament began on Wednesday. Mr. Besserer organized this fun opportunity for the 90+ staff members and Ms. Brady designed the beautiful bulletin board. The winner will be crowned at our next All School Meeting. Stay tuned!

The CCHS Green Team is visiting each third grade classroom this month to complete a planting project. The students are planting native seeds for pollinators inside 1-gallon mini-greenhouses. Then these seeds are placed outside to harden and begin growing this spring. 🌱☀️🌧️

Next week the 5th graders will be finishing a 6-week Stop Motion Animation unit that combines technology, art, and music. The students filmed their videos in the art room and later composed the movie soundtracks in the music room. The final movies will be premiering soon. 🎵🎨💻

The Rock-Paper-Scissors Tournament is down to the Final Four. The Championship takes place on April 16 at our All School Meeting. The students will see Mr. Williams take on Joe and then Mrs. Desmond will take on Mrs. Libby. The 2 winners will meet in the epic Finals. 😀🏆

The Final 4 of the Rock-Paper-Scissors Tournament occurred today. In the 1st round, Mrs. Desmond was victorious over Mrs. Libby. In the 2nd round, Mr. Kyrie beat Mr. Joe. In the finals, Mr. Kyrie narrowly beat Mrs. Desmond. Thanks to everyone for supporting this community event.
