BlockMan Premier League Leeds United Leeds edged out Everton 1-0 in a tense Premier League opener. Lukas Nmecha came off the bench and scored the winner from a controversial 84th-minute penalty after Tarkowski's handball. Leeds dominated but it was a gritty battle—great start for their return to the top flight!

Sky Sports Premier League Jamie Carragher Gary Neville Tarkowski was trying to be clever and every other defender would’ve tried the same but you can’t just lean towards the ball no matter how close your hand was to your body he tried to be cheeky by leaning he stopped the shot from going towards to the goal and that’s why it’s a pen

Football on TNT Sports The Premier League is back. Never a penalty. How you can say that is a penalty for handball? Senesi reached for the ball with an absolute blatant handball, not given. What's Tarkowski supposed to do, chop his arms off?

Tarkowski loves his body towards the ball He moves his arm behind his back It is not in an unnatural position Let’s not get distracted by the decision though because that performance was a disgrace

Out of Context Everton Lmao. What are you on?! Tarkowski very clearly had to move his upper body incl arms to get in to the path of the ball, he admitted it in the post game. If the ball is shot right at a defender they don’t need to move at all.

FPL Matt Cole Palmer. I am glad enough I replaced Konsa and Tarkowski with Tielemans, van de Ven & Frimpong on Friday, but I regret not keeping Tijani Reijnders whom I put initially. Verbruggen conceding in 96' to miss the clean sheet disappointed a lot but taking him did not.

Let's be honest guys that's never a pen 😂 tarkowski literally has his arm behind his back... We still thoroughly deserved the 3 points tho #lufc #everton

The penalty given against Everton was harsh and highlights the problems with VAR. Once again it’s one rule for some, another rule for others. Everton and Tarkowski can feel very hard done by. #EvertonFC

Rivalry aside, that penalty against Everton was ridiculous. The arm was in a natural position. Did the referee expect Tarkowski to cut his own arm off to avoid touching the ball? #EvertonFC

LFCTalk The 44 ⚽️ Law 12 content on handball, literally the first line - “It is an offence if a player…deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, for example moving the hand/arm towards the ball”, which is literally what Tarkowski does. Happy to help.
