Grey Squirrel study, Watercolour, 360 x 260mm. Non-native Species yes, and, we do have a man v squirrel activity going on currently at the feeders in the garden, not quite sure who's currently winning 🤔😁- but you cannot argue that they are wonderfully entertaining shapes.

The last few hours of 2024 & a hunting Sparrowhawk causes a Blue & Coal Tit to freeze in the Rosehip, getting dark,1600 hrs GMT, Hogmanay 2024.,Tawny Owl beggining to call. Daylight image tomorrow 😁 A lovely end to the year, Happy New Year everyone, see you in 2025!!!

Coal Tit Pair feeding among Rosehip in heavy snowfall, Watercolour, 560 x 760mm. A cold winter wonderland here in East Lothian and our first snow fall here at our new home - just have to make the most, very special just to sit out and listen to the fall of snow - so calming.

Fieldfare and Male Stonechat feeding among snow, Watercolour, 560 x 380mm. An icy northerly wind and the snow covering forces species I wouldn't normally see alongside, feeding together. Paint freezing and becoming tricky to mix as light fell.

Feeding Fieldfare and Stonechat, Watercolour, 560 x 760mm. Another painting from the hills 2day where Thrushes and chats are still sharing a marshy area of ground, obviously essential for feeding during this Wintry spell of weather. 1zt frozen palette, & brushes! of the Winter.

Woodcock among leaf litter, Watercolour and ICE, 560 x 760mm. Loving painting during this cold snap! Without a Zeiss Thermal camera would have been impossible to pick up before flushing. Just after lunch became painting with ice, palette totally frozen, ice textures visible.

Lull before the storm, and a Treecreeper feeds busily on the garden Ash tree, Watercolour, 560 x 380mm. The abstract patterning of a Treecreeper makes them blend in so well, had it not been for it's mouse like movements and distinctive high pitch calls. 😁👍
