In this secondary analysis of an RCT of postmenopausal women, vaginal estradiol showed more potentially beneficial changes to the vaginal microbiota & metabolome than pH-lowering vaginal moisturizer or gels, with similar symptom improvement. #VaginalHealth ja.ma/3IQw1Uv

Use of vaginal estradiol for 12 wks resulted in higher abundance of lactobacilli & bifidobacteria, higher amounts of lactate, with decreases in vaginal pH. Products that lower vaginal pH did not change the vaginal microbiota or metabolites. Pleasure to work with Caroline Mitchell!
