The decline in American power & prosperity reminds us to trust in God, not in American greatness. God allows/makes empires rise and fall. "Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings who cannot save." Ps. 146:3. Still, God will hold the princes accountable for their actions

Energy demand is surging driven by AI tech, spurring clean energy development more than climate activism alone (though dirty energy use will also grow). Both Trump 45 and Biden pursued “all of the above” energy development (despite contrasting rhetoric). ⁦Council on Foreign Relations

Philanthropists should stop funding "climate awareness" projects, it's not helping - Rachel Pritzker, Pritzker Innovation Fund. It's too hard to build new energy projects. The big need is technical innovation to make clean energy cheaper - the market will do the rest(?) Council on Foreign Relations

The most important variables driving climate mitigation are not "climate" policies but interest rates, innovation and stable investment environments. -David G. Victor, UC San Diego Council on Foreign Relations Climate Realism The US is (or was) strong on all 3 though alas not so much at the moment.

All policies involve trade-offs. Trade policies are designed for free & democratic societies. When you have a bad actor (authoritarian) the system doesn't work as well for citizens in the free countries. Maureen Hinman, Silverado Policy Accelerator

Geo engineering is important but can't solve the climate crisis alone-it could reduce temp rise by .5 degree at low cost & save many lives. But there are harms & unknown risks-we should approach slowly. If we don't somehow get to net zero we will become more and more like Venus.

President Trump is right to oppose deportation of farm workers who put food on our tables. Same for other hard-working immigrants thruout our economy. But his people are barreling ahead, putting masked officers on the streets and violating our laws and civil rights protections

The Social Security Act of 1935 was an act of moral imagination, a mutual commitment to care for the elderly and those with disabilities. 90 years in, it is an indispensable part of our social safety net. It should be strengthened to keep our promises to future generations.

Kudos to ⁦Rep. María Elvira Salazar⁩ @ ⁦Rep. Veronica Escobar⁩ for a great launch today on the reintroduction of the #DignityAct. “Like Lincoln ending slavery, like Reagan defeating communism, President Trump can pivot to fix our broken legal immigration.” But he needs Congress to act.

Congress was right in its original decision to approve life-saving humanitarian aid that they wrongly clawed back this week. But they at least preserved the #PEPFAR program. Many thanks to Sen. Susan Collins. Trump, senators did the right thing agreeing to spare HIV/AIDS funding

Gerrymandering is wrong and corrosive to our democracy no matter who does it, R’s or D’s. It amplifies the extremes in both parties and stymies cooperation. We should stop voting for anyone who supports it.

In that case, I’m grateful that my parents “neglected” me as a free range child. And that our community was blessedly free of social workers with these modern sensibilities.

After the disappointing Alaska summit, and inconclusive multilateral meetings today in DC, it is important for both the US and Europeans to step up support for Ukraine, to avoid a repeat of 1938.
