Research done at zoos can provide really useful information for field studies. This paper in @JZoology looks into how the colour patterns of some #poisonfrogs change over time. #colsci …lpublications.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jz…

Surprise #HybridZone in West Virginia salamanders! This project started as an assessment of a potentially #endangered cave salamander (Gyrinophilus subterraneus) and now we have more questions than answers, including why is there no salamander emoji 🌧️🦎?! bit.ly/3xQvoIA

Our paper led by Katie Thomas 🦑 & Rayna Bell investigating evolution of the diverse pupil shapes of amphibians is out in Biological Journal of the Linnean Society. We found pupil shape to be evolutionarily labile & that circular pupils are linked to fossorial and aquatic lifestyles🐸academic.oup.com/biolinnean/adv…
