Love having Tammy Zonker on Tactical Thursdays today. Did you know we host a short webinar every week just for you? Yep, sure do. Sign up here: nonprofitstorytellingconference.com/tactical-thurs…
.Tammy Zonker says it's important to ask for permission to ask a major donor for a visit. "You seem really interested in ______. Could we talk more about that and what we're doing in that area?"
Can you text a major donor to ask for a visit? Sure can, says Tammy Zonker. But don't ask for money via text. Bad form. Really bad form.
5 minutes before your time with your donor is over, alert them that you know they only have five more minutes with you, says Tammy Zonker. Donors appreciate that you value their time and can make the decision to wrap things up or keep going.
Love this from Tammy Zonker. 'You can be the source of bright light in a donor's life and help them find those pockets of joy.' A wonderful reminder of why sharing stories of the impact of their gift matters more than you know.
'Immersion is an amazing stewardship experience for major donors. Donors want to feel something real and authentic and to spend time with the people they support is powerful.' Tammy Zonker
Another fave speaker on Tactical Thursdays today - the briliant Diane H. Leonard, GPC, RST. She's talking all things grants. (What's Tactical Thursdays you ask? A free, fun educational series just for you!) nonprofitstorytellingconference.com/tactical-thurs…
When doing grant research, says Diane H. Leonard, GPC, RST, first look at the grantmakers' capacity (someone who will answer email/calls) and, super important, preference for communication. Best first step to know what to do next!
Super smart tip, Diane H. Leonard, GPC, RST! Instead of asking your board/staff/volunteers if they know someone at a grantmaking organization, give them a list of the people on the grantmaker's board/staff and ask if they know/recognize names. Are they willing to make a warm introduction?
What got your grant butterflies going when you researched a particular funder? That's typically the reason you're a good fit. Lean into that when reaching out to a new funder. Can you say it in 30 seconds or less? Perfect, says Diane H. Leonard, GPC, RST.
More grant goodness help from, Diane H. Leonard, GPC, RST. You need to have a great little sound bite that's unique and customized to a grantmaker. No stock language. How will you make your story connect to that specific grantmaker?
Busy in an hour? Hop on today’s Tactical Thursday and learn how to tell a story of need from conference favorite Steven Screen. (Yep, it’s free!) nonprofitstorytellingconference.com/tactical-thurs…
