ChatGPT has been blocked in several countries including China and Russia. Do the blocks work? TLDR: no, not at all Paper led by Honglin (虹霖) Bao and Mengyi sun shows ChatGPT use in scientific writing was *higher* in countries "without" access arxiv.org/abs/2406.11583 (1/3)

ChatGPT’s access is unequal among countries – but did ChatGPT diffuse to those places without legal access? What is the benefit of scientists adopting AI tools? I'm excited to have a new preprint w/Mengyi sun and Science of Science (mostly on LinkedIn now) link arxiv.org/abs/2406.11583 A thread (1/n)
