Sounds very exciting! "alterations subvert the formation of the chick primitive streak into the gastrulation modes seen in amphibians, reptiles and teleost fish [..] suggests that the evolution of gastrulation movements are largely determined by the shape of and cell behaviours"

After tweet holiday, some cool papers DOI: 10.7554/eLife.68584   Kaylee Wells in Kate McCusker’s lab by cross transplantation of tissues between large and small animals, she shows that matching of limb regenerate to the size of the host depends on a nerve mediated process

DOI: 10.1038/s41467-021-26321-9 Lizard tails show defective spinal cord regeneration that is dominated by sonic expressing cells that cause the tube to be encased in cartilage.  Tom Lozito  “repaired” this defective patterning by transplantation of CRISPR edited, Smo-/- NSCs

At a really nice meeting--seeing work on lits of amazing biology. So inspiring ( and happy that axolotl made it to the top models!)

Why do human neurons mature so slowly? Two studies from the lab tackle this issue. The first study led by Gabriele Ciceri identifies an epigenetic barrier that sets protracted maturation timing of human neurons already at the neural precursor stage bit.ly/39bgxi6

The second study led by Emiliano Hergenreder presents chemical strategy bit.ly/3Njtvtd, to drive maturation in human neurons. The new GENtoniK cocktail can drive maturation in multiple hPSC-derived cell types and trigger maturation related behavior even in non-neural lineages.

Prayag you beat me to it!😀. So happy to introduce you to this work on positional information in limb regeneration. And a huge applause to Akane Kawaguchi--chromatin artist and Jingkui Wang--computational wizard!!
