#HappeningNow UNRCPD and MAG (Mines Advisory Group) are in #Suva 🇫🇯 in partnership with Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Fiji and supported by European External Action Service - EEAS 🇪🇺, to raise awareness on the importance of strengthening arms control and to build capacity of officials to promote sustainable peace in #Fiji and the #Pacific.





It was a great pleasure for the UNRCPD team to meet Dirk Wagener 🇺🇳 and the RCO team in #Suva to discuss the United Nations’s efforts to support 🇫🇯 and Member States in the #Pacific to advance sustainable peace through #disarmament, #nonproliferation and #armscontrol. #OneUN #AsiaPacific

I am very concerned by announcements by several United Nations member countries to withdraw from the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention. We must uphold humanitarian norms & accelerate mine action. The protection of innocent lives depends on our collective action & commitment.
