This is ridiculous Racist agitators were still shit stirring on SM They don’t care, they just make stuff up irrespective of the facts But now we’ve pandered to the bigots, there’s going to be an expectation that police reveal ethnicity after any crime bbc.com/news/articles/…

Something for Bridget Phillipson & Stephen Morgan MP to consider Universal FSM doesn’t have the support many campaigners claim More people would prefer the government to prioritise low income households

🧱 Dozens more schools are going without vital repairs after the proportion getting capital cash fell again – amid wider fears leaders are deciding not to bid for funding because 'they feel it’s such a lottery' buff.ly/zubuPkt

As the future of universal infant free school meal comes under the spotlight again, I'm reminded of the arguments put forward by supporters last time the policy came under threat👇🏻 Of course it's just wishful thinking Just look at the recent Teacher Tapp report

2017 BBC Newsnight with Laura McInerney highlighting the lack of evidence that Universal FSM is cost effective & boosts attainment Since then only one study looked at attainment & UFSM & they found no statistically significant improvement (though some pupils got worse at maths)

IFS says tough public spending choices unavoidable The time to decide is fast approaching Do we want to keep Universal FSM & Transitional Protections Or do we want to focus DfE spending on those children living in poverty bbc.com/news/articles/…

A massive hit on Russias long range bomber fleet I can’t begin to imagine how much this one mission has saved NATO members (including the USA)

Free School Meals support in the holidays is now the largest category of Household Support Fund expenditure. This is arguably not an ideal use of what is supposed to be crisis support funding and would be better covered by an increased Free School Meals budget instead.

I get the idea behind moving FSM support in holidays out of HSF & into increased FSM budget, but on a practical level, it would mean even more work for schools The whole point is this is holiday support when schools aren’t open to provide their usual services Give them a break
