Hiroya and I have worked together for 18 months. His progress is remarkable. Tomorrow’s challenge is big, but Hiroya is ready.
Hiroya shows a fighting spirit. He sets goals and works hard to achieve them.
Hiroya is inspiring.
Please be inspired and pursue your dreams
I think it is pretty obvious that Mikuru won that fight
Mikuru defended the takedown well and in the moments that he was on the ground he either escaped or swept Kleber
There were no real submission threats
It should have been a Unanimous Decision for Mikuru
Here are my comments on the Hiroya vs Motoya match (Part 1):
- Motoya was strong as he always is
- Motoya did a great job adjusting to Hiroyas takedown defense, movement and striking defense.
- when Motoya couldn’t get his offense going he was able to find his upper cut and knee
(Part 2):
-Motoyas experience and strength through 3 rounds proved to be the difference in the fight.
- Motoyas last 3 opponents are the following:
Inoue ( a very strong fight by Motoya)
Akimoto ( a dominant win for Motoya)
Ota ( a submission victory for Motoya)
(Part 3)
Hiroya made incredible adjustments and has really improved.
We are starting to see Hiroya find his MMA Style
Hiroya has good submission defense, good wrestling, and his striking is improving.
We do need to improve our ability in the scramble and striking offense
(Part 4)
It has been 83 days since he was his last fight in May
We found out his opponent three weeks before his fight
When you look at the fight with this perspective, you can really see Hiroyas growth.
There is plenty to work on. I think he will be a champion in 3 years
Overall
Great performance by Motoya. I hope to see Motoya become the FW champion in this GP
Hiroya is on his way to greatness. Please continue to support him in his journey
This was a great fight for both fighters
Thank you
Tough loss.
It’s incredibly important to have good wrestling in the Ufc. You cannot accept being taken down and not moving
We will be back. We just need to keep working hard.
I will always support Kai
Kai’s striking and footwork looked good and improved. Japanese striking is very strong
The bjj and wrestling needs improvement.
Adversity is a privilege.
Every great champion has overcome difficult times.
I believe Kai will do the same.
There are so many layers of explanation to speak about specific disciplines in MMA. They are certainly all important, but generally speaking, some are more important than others.
In the future I would love to talk about this on a podcast, an interview or YouTube.
Strikers moving to UFC need:
- Basic grappling/submission defense
- College wrestling scrambles
- Takedown defense & Thai/Greco clinch
You need Multi-yr training integration, dedicated fighters, coaches, & a lot of hours in the gym
