Online Ukrainian Institute London event with soldier and writer Artem Chekh - not to be missed! 8 July.

Great to be part of #SHARP2024 panel on ‘Women, publishing and power in & beyond South Africa’ (my focus on Schreiner) along with Beth le Roux and Lesley Cowling, chaired by Emma Shercliff. A key theme was the interplay between different types of publication incl the more ephemeral.

I am still shell-shocked that the New York Times Books would confidently title a list with mostly Euro-American writers "Best 100 Books of the 21st Century." Only one African writer is on the list! This is not a list. This is an instrument of archival erasure. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Really looking forward to Primadonna Festival and Prize CIO today. Budding writers - come and chat to me today in the Chapel, 10.30 - 12.00. Feel free to ask me anything about agenting/publishing, or pitch me your book! #LaxfieldLiterary #PrimadonnaFestival
