I've been re-reading the 1945 manifestos for a thing next week. The sections on education - written in the middle of an economic crisis, with a huge job of reconstruction ahead - make quite a contrast with the narrowly econometric vision we get today.

Our Linguistics and English Language, Lancaster Uni Open Day visitors today had: a talk on myths about English by Jonathan Culpeper, the challenge to spot deception in language with Prof Claire Hardaker (dormant account), and a theory-of-mind activity with @SilleBrandt. Plus the chance to hear about our new BSc in Language Sciences.
