I'm thinking this Wordle craze is a good opportunity for CS students to practice regex on /usr/share/dict/american-english...

Looking for a good cybersecurity topic to do a Structured Brainstorm with a small group of students. Will be the first one we do

Always interesting to see when a major TV network runs a virtual background that asks to “activate Windows.” Oops,…

First mid-term since Fall 2019. Lots of confused, sad, and/or desperate faces in the audience. We'll see what that translates into. Somewhat fearful.

I just want to publicly thank CORSAIR Support for standing by their products. Everything can break. It is how you deal with such situations that matter. Well done.

I hate predatory marketing. “Did you see that this bad thing happened to that school because of their own fault? Buy our stuff so it doesn’t happen to you!” is NOT a sales pitch.

Great article at nytimes.com/2022/05/13/opi…. I can confirm this too. More F's than ever before (20%), but also more A+'s (also 20%), with the rest in A-B range. No C's and D's (as in: 0%). Very bimodal. Good students do well, but students needing more help are really feeling it.

It would appear that my students are somewhat unhappy with my final Applied Cryptography exam. I thought it was actually a very fair exam. I guess the grades will tell the story.

The 6m amateur radio band is weird. VHF but 1000+ mi without issues on one day. S9 noise floor the next. Completely dead the following. #hamradio

6m was on fire today with sporadic E. Watching that fade out on the WSJTX waterfall is amazing. Took less than 5 minutes from 2000km+ signals to barely a local peep.

That moment when you're working on a loaner laptop that has been locked down for "security", which makes it practically unusable, and it takes 30s to bypass if you know what you're doing. Security that hamstrings device users is ineffective. Maybe consult the security team first?
