Help. My colleague Jacqueline Damant (LSE) is funded to scope a study on the role and impact of social capital (Putnam 1993, 2000) in care homes. She wants to talk (30 mins) to people with experience of day to day life in care homes. Let me know or email [email protected] 🙏🙏🙏

We also highlight the big difficulties research methods have in evaluating these Covid-19 policies due to the way they were rolled out. No evaluation is perfect, but we aimed to add to the literature by exploiting the lag between virus transmission (the policy target) and death

Summary of the cautionary tale - a🧵(with behavioral economics twist). Back in 2010, Scotland banned multibuy such as “Any 3 for £5” etc. to reduce alcohol consumption. It also placed a restriction on where alcohol could be placed in the store (eg checkout counters). 1/14

long journey, but the 15-year-ago myself would be very proud of today's myself for getting to Journal of Economic Growth. in few words: the extractive vs inclusive institutions story applies perfectly to Italian medieval republics, with good arguments around persistence. hope you enjoy!
