As a parent of a neurodivergent or additional needs child, it’s so important to redefine what self-care means and it starts with noticing when your own needs are being overlooked.

♾️ Regulating when emotional states are heightened or recognising when Panic Monkey or Dino Brain (our health & safety officer and reflex system) aren’t playing nicely are core parts of our self care.

➿💥Our ability to intercept the limbic system going into overdrive or to reset ourselves after heightened or explosive states is self care to us. 💖

♾️ As parents, it’s too easy to not see ourselves as important enough to ask for what we need too.
